Lake County GIS Releases 2009 Aerial Photography
The Lake County Department of Information Technology, Geographic Information Services (GIS) Division, recently released on its interactive map (http://gis.lakecountyfl.gov) 2009 aerial photography for the entire 1,156 square miles of Lake County.
Taken earlier in January 2009, the aerial photography was received courtesy of the St. Johns River Water Management District and Southwest Florida Water Management District.
Aerial photography is a helpful tool for a variety of government services. From land planning to emergency services, the new layer assists with locating roads and structures. According to GIS staff, the aerial photography is also useful to citizens and businesses. Landowners often use the photography to learn more about their property. In addition, the collection of aerial photography found on the Web site also provides a unique historical perspective of how the County has changed since 2002.
