Successful FLW Tour fishing tournament completed on Harris Chain of Lakes
A very successful fishing tournament, the FLW Tour competition, took place this past week in the Harris Chain of Lakes. Hosted by Lake County, the FLW is the world’s largest tournament-fishing organization, providing anglers of all skill levels the opportunity to compete for millions in prize money in 2017 across five tournament circuits. In this tournament, pros and co-anglers were randomly paired each day, with pros supplying the boat, controlling boat movement and competing against other pros. Co-anglers fish from the back deck against other co-anglers. The full field of 326 anglers competed Thursday and Friday. Co-angler competition concluded following Friday’s weigh-in, while the top 20 pros based on their two-day accumulated weight advanced to Saturday. Only the top 10 pros continued competition Sunday, with the winner determined by the heaviest accumulated weight from the four days of competition.
The winning angler caught 20 bass, weighing 73 pounds 9 ounces. Overall there were 50 bass weighing 149 pounds, 10 ounces caught by pros Sunday. All of the final 10 pros weighed in five-bass limits. All of the fish were released alive. The tournament results shows that the lakes and the fishery are doing very well.
