1.5 miles south-southeast of Cassia.
Description
Helene Spring has a single pool and a long spring run to Sulphur Run. Palm, oak, and pine trees are common in the area around the spring and run. The spring pool is rimmed with limestone rock and the single vent is located on the bottom of the pool. It is accessible by horse or foot only. The water has a distinctive sulphur aroma and the bacteria that feed on the sulphur produce a grey slime.
Utilization
The spring is undeveloped. It is on public property in the Seminole State Forest, southwest of the intersection of Atula Road and Palatka Road.
The Seminole State Forest offers many recreational opportunities for either the outdoor enthusiast or casual visitor. A State Forest Use Permit is required for drive-in access.
