Droty Spring is located in the Seminole State Forest, about 3 miles northeast of Mount Plymouth and 1.7 miles south of the town of Seminole Springs.
Description
Droty Spring is a fourth-magnitude spring that issues clear water from a sandy, circular vent at the base of a 10-foot deep ravine. The meandering spring run is 4 feet wide, 500 feet long, and flows northeast into Seminole Creek. The spring run has a sand bottom with dark green algae and tree debris throughout. The private land surrounding the spring is thickly foliated with oaks, pines, banana trees, and palms.
Utilization
The spring is undeveloped and the run flows into Seminole Creek. It is on public property in Seminole State Forest. The spring is on Doty Spring Lane (Old County Road 46A), just east of County Road 46A. There is a pullout but there is no sign marking the location.
The Seminole State Forest offers many recreational opportunities for either the outdoor enthusiast or casual visitor. Parking is available at the Cassia Trailhead off of Brantley Branch Road via SR 44 and at the Bear Pond Trailhead off of SR 46. A State Forest Use Permit is required for drive-in access.
