Location
Blueberry Spring is located in the Seminole State Forest, about 3.5 miles southeast of Cassia.
Description
Blueberry Spring is a fifth-magnitude spring that discharges from a small sand boil in the hillside. The shallow, circular pool is about 5 feet in diameter. There are leaves, organic debris and white sulfur-reducing bacteria covering the pool bottom. Several more sand boils are present in the run farther down the hillside. Clear water meanders eastward down a 5-foot wide spring run into Blackwater Creek.
Utilization
The spring is on public property in Seminole State Forest. The spring and the area around it are undeveloped and access may be difficult.
The Seminole State Forest offers many recreational opportunities for either the outdoor enthusiast or casual visitor. Parking is available at the Cassia Trailhead off of Brantley Branch Road via SR 44 and at the Bear Pond Trailhead off of SR 46. A State Forest Use Permit is required for drive-in access.
