Location

Boulder Spring is located in the Seminole State Forest, about 7 miles west of Sanford.

Description

Boulder Spring is a fifth-magnitude spring. It has four small vents issuing clear water. The spring head is a small pool in an area of limerock outcrop at the base of a hillside, with large limestone boulders in the spring pool and run. Large angular boulders covered with green moss are in the spring pool and the spring run. The run is shallow, 0.3 miles long, 10 feet wide, and flows northwest into Sulphur Run. The area around the spring slopes steeply up a forested hill known as Sulphur Island. Several springs are located around the perimeter of this “island”.

Utilization

The spring is on public property, but the spring and the area around it are undeveloped and access may be difficult.
