Green Algae Spring is located in the Seminole State Forest, about 1.8 miles southeast of Cassia.
Description
Blue Algae Spring, a fifth-magnitude spring, has a shallow, slightly elongated natural spring pool that measures 15 feet long and 10 feet wide. Often, no vent is visible due to the large amount of organic material, including dark bluish-green algae, covering the spring bottom. The water is clear with a slight hydrogen sulfide odor. The spring run is also shallow and is about 5 feet wide. It flows 75 feet south and Sulphur Run flowing from the east. The area surrounding the spring is publicly-owned, hardwood forest with palmetto understory.
Utilization
The spring is on public property, but the spring and the area around it are undeveloped and access may be difficult.
