LCWA Wants Clear Role in Dora Canal Railroad Bridge Project
As plans to redesign--and eventually rebuild--the Dora Canal railroad bridge begin, Lake County Water Authority trustees want to make sure their input is taken seriously.
Water authority trustees decided to make certain at a recent meeting that plans for the $1.3 million project to build a new bridge need to be approved by them before moving forward. The water board handed over $112,500 for the project to partner with Tavares and the Central Florida Railroad.
But trustees made it clear they want to have a say in the design of the project since the water authority is paying for part of it, said Mike Perry, water authority executive director.
At the recent meeting, Tavares and Central Florida Railroad officials agreed to revise the agreement with the water authority so all parties agree on the project before construction begins.
