The St. Johns River, South Florida and Southwest Florida water management districts are working with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and regional utilities to address near and long-term water supply needs in the central Florida region.
Through the Central Florida Water Initiative (CFWI), the agencies are engaging stakeholders in the development of a Regional Water Supply Plan for the area, which includes Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and southern Lake counties.
The Regional Water Supply Plan will:
- Quantify existing and future water needs
- Ensure protection of water resources and related natural systems
- Identify sustainable water supply options
A public workshop will be held to discuss the status of the CFWI’s Regional Water Supply Plan. The workshop will include presentations and an informal, open-house format. CFWI experts will be available to answer questions and receive input.
