South Lake Chamber to host Water Summit

Residents invited to learn about water resource issues facing South Lake

CLERMONT – The South Lake Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Lake County Board of County Commissioners and the City of Clermont, will host a South Lake Water Summit to discuss local water resource issues affecting the southern region of the county. The summit will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 5 p.m. at the Clermont Community Center, 620 W. Montrose St., Clermont.

The purpose of the event will be to review history and trends of water levels, examine the impacts and relationships of water consumption on the county’s lakes and springs and discuss the proposed South Lake Regional Water Initiative.

“It is important that Lake County looks for ways to help develop mitigation strategies to meet the future water needs,” said County Commissioner Sean Parks, District 2. “Water is central to our quality of life and economy in Lake County. It's important we do everything possible to protect our water resources.”

Representatives from the Lake County Board of County Commissioners, Lake County Water Authority, city of Clermont and St. Johns River Water Management District will have parts during the summit.
